How to wash and care for knitwear
We always recommend hand washing your knitwear, it is better for clothes and the environment.
Only spot clean your bags.
Knit clothing and knit accessories do not need to be washed each time they are worn. If you do encounter a spill or a stain, spot cleaning with mild non-alkaline soap will do.
If hand washing, soak for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. To get rid of excess water, lay flat your knit in a clean towel and gently press to absorb it. Do not wring it.
If loaded in a washing machine use cold water, a gentle cycle, and a small amount of gentle laundry detergent.
Avoid the use of bleach and stain removing pretreatments.
Do not tumble dry.
It would be best for knits to get washed alone without anything else in the load, but that is not a much of an environmentally conscious option. You could put other clothes with a knit piece just do it mindfully, avoid clothes with sharp embellishments, to minimize the chances of a yarn catching on something.
Air dry flat on a rack, placing a towel underneath to absorb any drips. Hanging knit up to dry will stretch pieces out of shape. Always remember to reshape your items before letting them air dry. Knit items can easily become misshapen after being exposed to water.
Store your knits folded in a drawer or shelf and again do not hang your knit up because it will pull the piece out of shape.
Please also be conscious when you wear them. If you wear a knit piece with a sharp jewelry or some other type of accessories or apparel you may cause damage, knits can easily catch up on things.
Pilling occurs naturally with friction to some pieces and can be easily removed with a pilling comb or a fabric shaver.
Tip: When washing and drying your clothes turn your garments inside out. When drying your clothes dry them in the shade. It will prevent color from fading and help them last longer.
